We finally thawed!
I realize that it's been almost a month since an update. It's because we spent the first four days of January in Minnesota where the temp never rose above 4 degrees. Actually, I think the average temp over our four day visit was 20 below. Seriously. My hands finally thawed this afternoon. : )
We were in MN to celebrate Grandma K's retirement from MCLC. It was a lovely day, with a lovely party - complete with a good ol' Lutheran Church Basement meal. We were able to visit with lots of friends, including all of the full-time head pastors for the church since my family became members when I was 9 months old! Pastor Sally (in the middle) baptized KK back in 2006. MCLC is certainly my home away from home, and it was good to be there to celebrate with Grandma! We're not usually big football fans, except for when we are in Minnesota. Then we don't have a choice. People choose our clothing for us and we know to randomly shout "SKOL VIKINGS!" all day long. This makes other Minnesotans happy. Of course this was back when the Vikes were winning. You know, before "that pass." We won't mention anything more about that. No more purple tears need to be shed. We still love the Vikes anyway. You know it's cold when everyone is in a Snuggie and Miss Ruby needs to wear a sweater indoors! Uncle Rod taught KK how to "Recliner Surf" in Grandma's chair. They were pretending to be somewhere warm. Auntie Shawna spoiled KK with lots of teeny-tiny-toys and played with her and Grandma's dollhouse for hours. Awesome! We also got to see Auntie Sunshine for a Noodles lunch and to see "Where the Wild Things Are" at the Riverview. I'm bummed that I didn't get a picture of KK in front of the theater, but when it's 20 below, you just run for the car. Fast. It was nice to spend a few days with family and we're looking forward to our next visit -- but not until Spring!!!!!
