Meet "Wrigley"
Originally known as...Big Pink!
I think Wrigley's story is the most romantic, as he was a surprise gift from Ryann to Bryce for their wedding. So sweet!
From Ryann & Bryce:
Wrigley is doing great. He's getting pretty big. Last time I weighed him he was a little over 50 lbs. He has already destroyed quite a bit of stuff including the backyard and the carpet in the living room but I guess that is what puppies do. We're hoping he grows out of that stage soon. Wrigley has a ton of energy and loves to swim. We can't keep him out of the water at Ryann's parents house. When we let him outside he immediately runs to the dock and jumps off. Wrigley is also a really smart dog. He can already do several fun tricks. I think his favorite trick is the "roll over." That is his go to trick when he gets excited for a treat. He also does a pretty good "play dead." If I point at him and say bang Wrigley will flop down on his side and lay still. He also is very photogenic. If you tell him to pose for a picture he will turn his head to the side like he's getting ready for a glamour shot. That has been very fun!
Wrigley also gets to spend quite a lot of time with his brother Cayson. They are a lot like my brother and I when we were kids... constantly fighting. On Sunday nights it seems like they wrestle each other all evening until they are both exhausted. Maybe they will grow out of that stage too!
One of the funniest stories about Wrigley was when he was a very little puppy. This was before I even knew that Ryann and I would be getting Wrigley. At the time we were just watching him one morning for fun. Wrigley kept running in to the screen door to the backyard trying hard to get outside. Each time he ran in to the screen he would try again by backing up a little bit further to get a bigger head start. This went on for several minutes with Ryann and I watching and laughing. We finally stopped paying attention for a second and before we knew it Wrigley dropped a big "pile" right on the carpet. We laughed some more and thought we probably deserved that one. It's not like he didn't let us know that he wanted to go outside!
The biggest downside of having Wrigley is that he has not brought any good luck to the Chicago Cubs. In fact, they are playing worse this year. I thought that by naming him Wrigley he might bring some good luck. That hasn't happened so far but that's ok. It's not his fault. There's always next year!
Isn't that the sweetest picture?!?! Everyone loves a Golden, even a Pit Bull mix!!!
