Apparently I have a crush.

I went to the doctor today because of a lingering sinus infection. KK came with me and listened to all of the sinus talk between me and the doc. Right before bedtime we watched Americ@n Idol (we heart Adam!!!!), then did bath and stories. On most nights I'll lay down with KK and snuggle with her for a song or two before heading downstairs. Tonight, though, the pressure in my face was just too annoying so I told KK I didn't feel good and we would snuggle tomorrow at naptime. She replied, "You don't feel good because you have a Simon Affection, right Mama?" Um, well, actually...call me crazy, but there is something that I do find appealing about Simon. I usually agree with what he has to say - I just don't always like the way he says it. I'd say my girl knows her Mama pretty well! ; )

Happy Easter!

We had a lovely and quiet Easter weekend. We went to church on Saturday evening, and then this morning we enjoyed brunch, an egg hunt, and lots of visiting with various Easter Bunnies. (And a sweet pony, too.) Remember when I said lots of visiting? The poor Easter bunny was exhausted from hiding eggs all night, but KK was not going to let him catch a break! For weeks, KK had been hoping that the Easter Bunny would leave the movie "Kung Fu Panda" in her basket. This morning, she came into our room very excited to let us know that the Easter Bunny had hidden eggs all around our house!!! We snuggled in bed for a while waiting for Daddy and Buddy to get home from their walk. After a minute or so she said, "Mom, the Easter Bunny didn't leave me Kung Fu Panda." And then (sweetly, but rather unconvincingly), "But that's okay. I really didn't want him to anyway." For a moment I felt sad for her, and was surprised she had only peeked in the basket without touching anything. When Daddy got home we went to check out what Easter Bunny had left. Lo and behold, there tucked behind the boring swimsuit and socks was... ...which explains the hugs Easter Bunny got all morning!!!

We hope you had a blessed Easter filled with love and happy surprises!

More snow fun

We haven't had much snow this winter, but we're trying to enjoy what is left of it. Cousin C had a birthday, and to celebrate we spent a weekend at a cabin near a tubing hill. As you can see, the "snow" conditions at the hill were a little desperate, but we really had a great time!
A few days after our tubing efforts we got a decent blizzard, so we took advantage of that too. The kids built snow people in the front yard, used their own hats, and named them after themselves. So cute!
Now? I'm ready for sunshine and swimming pools!

Ski Bums

A couple of weekends ago, Daddy got a call from a friend inviting him and KK to go skiing. He was bringing his daughter who is also one of KK's best friends. Daddy and KK were both pretty excited about the idea, although KK had no idea what was in store for her.
These two girls could go anywhere together and have a great time. Here they are, practicing their "Ski Diva" poses. Thank goodness for Ski School... ...she was finally able to stand up! Looking very happy on her "Magic Carpet Ride" Daddy and his girl Although I was told there were a few tears now and then, she still talks about how much fun she had and how she'd like to go again. We might get lucky enough to squeeze in one more trip before summer - in any case, I think next year is going to be filled with lots of Daddy and KK time on the slopes!
