!Viva Mets-ta-toe!

We just returned from a much-needed long vacation in the Caribbean. ***Ahhhhh***

We chose a beautiful resort in Puerto Morelos, Mexico (or "Mets-ta-toe as KK calls it) that had a Kids Club for children under 4. The three of us spent each morning together on the beach, building sandcastles, eating sand, and "swimming in the ocean with Bruce the Shark!" The last two days, I got up early to watch the sunrise and reserved a palapa bed next to the pool with a great view of the ocean. We all loved lounging around reading our books and doing nothing.

In the afternoons, KK went to the Kids Club to play and take a nap. She just loved it!!! (And so did we!!!!!!!) KK instantly became attached to Adriana, the caregiver in the Kids Club. As soon as she woke up each day, she'd say "I want to see Adriana!" It was all we could do to keep her with us until lunch time - she just wanted to go to the club and play and sleep in her big comfy princess bed.

KK was also captivated by the dancers that put on cheesy resort-style entertainment each night. She and I both loved it, and Daddy actually thought it was okay too. KK was able to dance up on the stage each night before the show, which she thought was heaven. We tried to leave one night during intermission, but she completely flipped out and screamed and cried "I NEEEEEED THE DANCERS!!!" so we let her stay up late to see the shows. She was definitely tired by the time we got back to our room!

Daddy and I were able to sneak away for two snorkeling trips provided by the resort. These were the best snorkeling trips I've ever been on - we saw a big Eagle Ray, a way-larger-than-I-needed-to-see Barracuda, and lots of pretty fish and coral. We also took two evening trips into the town of Puerto Morelos to get a taste of the local life. It was a great vacation, and since we haven't been on vacation since our honeymoon over four years ago, it was especially relaxing.

The funniest part of the trip was our transportation to the airport. We paid for private transfers, and were brought to the resort in a little Saturn which was perfectly fine. The way back to the airport? A stretch limo. Yeah. It was pretty funny since we weren't expecting it at all - but it was certainly a nice way to end the trip. It was good to go away...and it's good to be home. : )

Baby's First Official Haircut!

Okay, so she's clearly not a baby anymore, but it seems that babies get first haircuts - not 2 1/2 year olds! KK's hair has been a bit more straggly lately and really needed a style. I've been trimming tiny bits here and there, but it was time for the real thing. Of course she cooperated fully... While the experience was fun, I have to say that it certainly wasn't worth paying for. The stylist was sweet, but she really didn't do anything. When we got home I sat KK in front of Nemo and really cut her hair which is what I should have done in the first place. Good thing hair grows, even if it's slowly, because right now she looks like an adorable little boy. : )
Sorry I didn't take a really good "after" photo. When it was all said and done, I was just too tired. We have a big week this week, and there will be plenty "after" photos posted soon.

Hot dot, Hot dog, Hot Diggety Dog!

The Pl@yhouse Disney Live show was a big hit. KK danced and sang and clapped and had a great time. There was a little anticipation pre-show...
Then we were mesmerized for several minutes...
And then there was much singing and dancing and shouting "Hi Mickey! Hi Goofy! Hi Pooh!" I think KK's favorite was the Hot Dog song. I couldn't take pictures during the show, so you'll just have to imagine all the dance moves going on. I think it is safe to say that it was very entertaining for us adults, too!

Thank you, Grandma M, for taking all of us to this very fun show!!

Piggies

Here are some pics of KK playing with her Christmas gifts. Look at all of that hair! She might even be needing a 'real' haircut soon!

Tomorrow we are going to see Disney Live with KK's cousins, aunts, and Grandma M. She is sooo excited! Although she doesn't really understand that she is actually going to see Mickey - she is mostly excited to see and play with her cousins! I'm sure there will be lots of cute pics to post after the big event.

We now resume...

...our regularly scheduled programming, already in progress.

Things are back to 'normal' around here after the holidays. KK is feeling much better and today we had our first playgroup since early December. Unfortunatly, many of our playgroup friends are not feeling well ('tis still the season for bug-catching), so it was a small group of KK and one other friend. We had a nice time visiting and playing, and the other mom and I enjoyed seeing how much each other's kiddo had grown in a month.

We'll also be going back to music class this week after a winter break. I'm getting into a groove at work where I sort of know what I'm doing. I stiiiilllll don't have an oven - it blew out in September, we waited over three months for a part, we got the new part and it blew too. Now Daddy can't decide if we should get all new appliances or if we should buy just an oven that doesn't quite match everything else (our "almond" appliance color has been discontinued). I think both our dishwasher and microwave are on the outs too - but who knows, they could last another couple of years. So it might be a good time to replace everything. (What's the lottery up to these days????) Anyway, even I, who almost despises day-to-day cooking, am getting more than annoyed. I won't even get into the tiles in the shower that are falling off the wall allowing water to seep into God knows where...

Hmmm. That's about all the news I can report. OH, I did update my blogroll - over there on the right. I hadn't realized how outdated it had become.

Sorry for the boring post. I'll post a KK video or something to make up for it later. : )
