Meet and Greet

Introducing....our big PRE-SCHOOLER!!! We went to the Meet and Greet at KK's pre-school this morning in anticipation of her first day of school next Tuesday. She brought all of her school supplies, met her teachers and classmates, and jumped right in like she owned the place. It was an exciting morning, and KK is definitely READY! Her teachers are Miss Alisa and Miss Joanna, and I only hope that KK doesn't frazzle them into early retirement.

Camping...sort of.

At the beginning of the summer, our playgroup friends planned a camping trip for this past weekend. ALL SUMMER we've had 90 degree sunny weather. On Friday? We began two full days of rain and 30-50 degree temps. Go figure! With eight adults, five three year olds, and three infants, it didn't sound like it was going to be much fun spending two nights outside in freezing rain.

Thankfully, we have a wonderful friend who had an (available!) cabin literally ten minutes from our campsite. So, we headed to the mountains and decided we'd cozy up and make the best of it. It was great! We had the best of both worlds -- we were in the mountains AND we were warm, dry, ate fabulous meals, and we were able to watch the Olympics (a big deal since one of our friends is a former track and field Olympian for New Zealand and his wife competed in this year's U.S. Olympic trials). Best of all, the kids had a BLAST! Even with the cold and rain, we spent a few hours at the campground...just long enough to enjoy a campfire, s'mores, and a short hike to 'fish' in the lake. We are all excited to give it another try next summer; hopefully in dryer weather!
After everyone else had headed for home, KK and I stayed behind and hiked around a lake since the weather was a bit nicer. Daddy had already left early for a trip for work, so we just took our time and threw lots of rocks! It really was a great weekend!

T is for Trouble and C is for Cute

When I'm getting ready in the morning, KK sometimes plays with the lotion bottle. She knows how to use it, but only puts the lotion on her skin like you normally would do. At least up until now. I should have known she was up to no good when she came in and swiped my nail file. Baby Addy was here for a sleepover last weekend, and the girls got along so well. Addy is the sweetest baby, and she is getting to be such a big girl. KK shared her musical instruments and they put on a little show for me in their (coincidentally) matching green outfits. They are such cuties!

Whirlwinds

Our tiny little baby is suddenly three, and life isn't slowing down one bit. The past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind; we've had a lot of things going on, from mundane to fabulous. There are a lot of exciting things coming up, too. The whirlwind continues!

KK's birthday festivities were really special. On her actual birthday we started the day by going to a garden for a fairy princess photo shoot. Considering it was about 100 degrees outside, she did pretty well. Later that day, we had a small family BBQ with our traditional angel food cake made with Great-Grandma M's cake pan. Grandma and Grandpa K flew in for the weekend, and Grandma M, Uncle Ry, Auntie Kar, Cousin C, and Uncle Ray all came over. It was perfect. K got to play all day with her cousin, which is always a special treat. K also got spoiled with a super-fun package with (too many!) gifts from Auntie Sunshine. Thank you, Auntie Sunshine! AND we got to puppy-sit Cayson and Big Pink all weekend! Here are Cayson and Big Daddy B having some snuggle time. Look how big the little guy is already!
On Monday, KK had her playgroup friends over for a Backyard Beach Party. It was very hot, but she had so much fun! We also celebrated KK's first boyfriend's birthday -- they are exactly one week apart. Happy Birthday, J! My sweet, adorable, challenging, beautiful little miracle baby girl is already three. It's been the best three years of my life...and it just keeps getting better! Happy birthday baby girl, I love you more than words can say!
Today is also my Godson's birthday. Happy birthday Mister M, I love you and I hope to see you soon!!! (That's baby KK! I need an updated picture!)

Three!

Happy 3rd Birthday to our beautiful fairy princess!
